I just read on another website that although the HD2 won't be getting wp7, 6.5 and applications for it might not be dead yet. Seems they might be continuing the product line under the name windows mobile starter edition. I haven't heard anything else about this yet. But this is definitely good news.  Read it and see what you think.

i cant really say about the article because microsoft isnt clear about what exactly the whole starter thing is about. it seems like it may be, like they said 'a stripped down version of 6.5' or could be a whole other platform. anywho, the fact that 6.5 might not be getting thrown out is a good sign for the users who need support/updates (like us HD2 users). plus, i dont want wp7's bubbly social networking outfit. i like 6.5's business suit.

In the world of modifying phones, its similar to modifying cars. There are three aspects:

'Cheap, Fast, Or Reliable.' Choose two and the third can not apply.

Well let's hope that is what it will be. I understand winmo isn't for the average user. But wp7 sure isn't a business phone. A stripped down clean version would be great. We could install what we want. But if Microsoft only goes with wp7 that should send all the business aspect back to blackberry. I don't believe microsoft wants that either.

I wouldn't care about WP7 UI at all, but I'm particularly intereste in Abode's reaction to wp7 and their Flash 10.1 support.

You say HD2 has flash support already in IE, but then again, it can't be what 10.1 is promising...

As long as 6.5 gets flash support from adobe, i think it'll be a better phone for most that would use windows mobile phone.

Adobe has already said no to updated flash on 6.5. They also said no to wp7. That doesnt mean that opera might not strike a deal with them and get us a better version. It is already in the beta just not great. Skyfire is decent with flash but still not what most sites call for.

Also Microsoft wants flash out. It is outdated. Resource hog.

All very confusing but I think bit-by-bit we're seeing MS' plans unfold, it would be nice to get a full, frank and honest interview or confirmation of the future from the Redmond giants, maybe all the guessing will be laid to rest after (or during) MIX10 next week

Yes hopefully then we will know the truth. Tired of lies and rumors. I still think it was microsoft or HTC that leaked that false info at the end of last year. When they said the HD2 would get wp7. My opinion it was done on purpose to increase sales. You can't tell me that HTC and microsoft don't know their own plans many, many months in advance.

thats a good point. i never thought about it like that. MS reps might be leaking BS to boost sales. pretty [good Huh] unethical marketing tactic, but ends with a lot of disappointment. i just dont understand why all the big hoopla their putting everyone through with the rumors. just be clear. if we like it we will buy, if not move on to next customer. no, instead lets make all these loyal consumers crazy in their forums trying to figure out what is actually going on. /rant
