I curious to to know:

When WiFi and Edge are both on, which one of the two links will connect you to the internet when you start a web browser?

It should be wifi. If you are unsure, try your connection out with a speed test like http://i.dslr.net/iphone_speedtest

That should let you know easily which connection you are using.
