Hey, i was thinking about purchasing one of these from Rob at Mobicity. Ive read numerous XDA forum threads about radios and roms (among other crazy things, i wont go there, lol)

I was just wondering what configurations have worked best for everyone with the aussie version. Just running the telstra system or using different roms/radios. i especially would like to hear agoattamer since you said your thrilled with your phone after you got the kinks out.

I dont want to start a massive debate here, specifically from people who havent experimented with many options. I just want some info from people with experience using the phone.

Thanks!

'Cheap, Fast, Or Reliable.' Choose two and the third can not apply.

Where are you using phone? Australia or with ATT here in the USA?

I HSPLed my phone and flashed the 1.66 sea wwe official rom. I had issues with disconnects and mms's and emails not sending and receiving for 2 weeks a couple times a day. I flashed many radios and none seemed to help. I think most are full of it on xda about 1 radio being so much better than another. I finally tried the 2.08.50.08_2 radio. I set my network bands correctly and I have had not one issue in 2 weeks.  I think that radio did the trick.

I went from thinking I bought a piece of junk that would never work correctly to a phone that hasn't gave me 1 issue in now 2 weeks. I have 3 email accounts checking every 15 minutes and everything works as it should. I simply love my phone now.

im going to be using ATT in US. im in florida, so there appears to be a lot of 850 here. but im fine with edge anywho, i just love this phone. ive been waiting for it since november to come out, then i heard TMo and i was like blah. Then i heard WM7 and i was like blah. Then i hear no flash, was like...blah. But despite everything, this phone is my most ideal phone I could think of. The huge capacitive screen, dual LED, and nice processor, etc make the decision for me. I really think im gonna go ahead and keep att and get the telstra hd2 instead of waiting and switing to TMo (which is what i was planning)

Thanks for the info. Im glad everything is going well for you, as it makes me feel more confident to go this route. im just trying to rake up the dough for it...

anyone else's experiences with radios and roms (signed or not)?

I HSPLed my phone and flashed the latest Duttys_Leo_Sense_2.5_5.2.21892.5.0.89_2.07_HG_V0.9_Radio_2.07.50.27_2_WWE along with the official HTC radio upgrade which is basically the sim contacts update. Im using it on ATT down here in San Antonio, TX which is predominately 850mhz. This thing is blazingly fast on the 3G network. Faster than the previous iphone 3gs I had. Everything works perfectly for me so far and havent really had any trouble.

I got mine back here in February and am using here in Australia.  I too did the HSPL and used the 1.66 WWE ROM and then from a registry fix posted by Quietman 75 (and a CAB later from agoattamer - many thanks) have it running perfectly on Telstra's NextG network, I did have to do a little extra work (send test MMS to Telstra) to get it to receive MMS messages but it works perfectly and is very quick.  It's so much better than that crap ROM Telstra stuffed it with to try and make MORE money out of their customers

thanks for your replies. i appreciate the info. im all into customizing my phone, i just dont want the possibility of bricking/breaking it for good. im hesitant to trusting all the roms out there, but if everyone else is doing it...

Very hard to brick your phone. Just dont install roms using the storage card. You will always be able to do a hard reset or flash the original rom back in minutes.

you should install roms without the storage card inserted at all, apparently this makes the rom faster in future use Smiley
