worked with my vista home edition fine, try connecting vua the ip address rather than computer name and then just use exact current username on the comp plus password and you should be in, on the note of landscaping remote desktop i did read somewhere (which when i find i will post) that a little reg change can allow the auto rotate to landscape for better viewing. Again why they didnt do this by default is beyond me

I was going to ask the same thing dragon:

Here is what I knew to do so far (although I've also read online Vista home doesn't work, so glad to hear it can in your experience)

1) I turned remote desktop on in vista- I went to control panel- system- security- allow remote desktop access (we don't have the option to choose which types have access).

2) I went to my router and checked to see the ip address for the computer.  I also noted my computer name.

3) While in the router, I opened up port access for "remote anything" to that computer name.

4) I then logged out of my username on that computer (assuming only one access is allowed at a time.

5) Through the HTC, connected to the same network on the wifi, I then tried with both the computer name and the ip of the computer, as well as using my user name and password.

I left domain blank.

Trouble shooting options:

Wifi possibly disconnects?  - I then considered that while I'm logged out, the wifi connection may shut down, so I plugged in the ethernet cable and tried again.

login- I noticed on the instruction videos that they logged into the user account after connecting, so I wondered if it is windows 7 only that you don't need to enter user name and password?

domain- is the domain rightly blank when logging in from inside the same network?

I didn't pursue each of these steps again- checking ip, checking port access, checking login as I then read this thing about vista home... but I look forward to your elaboration on the steps you took.

Cheers,

Rex

I suspect you need to enable port forwarding on your router? The port number for RDP is 3389. You need to tell your router to forward anything on that port to the local IP of your pc, 192.168.  etc, and set type to 'TCP+UDP'. Don't forget to apply your settings. I had RDP working on my HD2 but found the screen too small. But at least I know it works. (Win7).
