I'm sure there is a high probability that this should go into a particular thread but I'm too lazy to look for it  Tongue

Its been around six weeks since I bought the htc hd2 and so far I have loved it. It does, however, have some bad points which, while not deal breaking, annoying somewhat.

Things I like:
GUI - I love it. In fact it was the reason I wanted the phone over all others and I still think its fantastic.
Screen - just, wow.
touch  screen - so sensitive.
Speed (except in one occasion I mentioned below) is very good. It is indeed snappy.
And finally I love how people see me using it and go 'hey what phone is that?' It captures people's interests yet its not that popular (I don't like being part of a crowd)

Things I don't like:
If I open a very long text conversation it take a short while for the phone to allow me to write a text. This is easily remedied by deleting messages but as I text my girlfriend a lot I have to do it fairly regularly. I would expect a phone with a snapdragon processor to handle it better than that.
When certain people text me I get 2 texts. One from that person and then an identical one from 'gsm'. The only annoying thing about this is that the gsm text replaces the original in the text tab so if I press it to reply then it doesn't send. I have to go to all messages and then select the conversation I want. Slightly annoying but no big deal.

So, what does everyone else think about their htc hd2? Good points? Bad points?

your problems are softwere related and htc is to blame for this because they made the sms app. I guess we will receive a lot of updates for it until it gets perfect.

3 days on and one of my bugbears is the sms app.  Ive just moved from a blackberry which was a dream to send sms from. Specifically, the send button is easily caught, with half sent text messages being send unintentionally, and I find the HTC messaging app quite unintuitive and cluttered.  Im hoping that some alternative sms applications will be made.

Other than that I'm loving it in general, especially now I found these forums and worked out how to do things like get a decent quality video to play.

:S i liked the messaging system on this phone. granted i came from a k800, so not much to compare with, but i find the only problem with it is you can't see the text you are replying to at the same time you text, with a screen this big i'd have hoped for that.

true, but we can scroll up to have a look at the texts. You can make the text smaller if that helps...

also with "all messages" you can see all the conversations you've had with each person. useful i find.

Yes, all true, but nonetheless an option to have the device ask for confirmation before sending would be nice.

As would a more simple way of returning to the home screen after sending a message, its either several taps and gestures or using a hardware key.  I know that sounds petty, but for something I use many times a day, it should be one of the quickest and smoothest actions to perform.

Well if it asked for confirmation then thats another keypush. Im sure this is a feature that most people definitely would not want. And when you hit send and you see it in conversation then there is the confirmation.

And whats so difficult with pressing the home hard key? Why would being a soft key make it so much better?
