Title: SMS Hotfix frozen Post by: amancalledrob on March 02, 2010, 01:26:39 AM Hey guys
I'm a new member here. I'd like to make my first post a bit more positive, buuuuut... I've downloaded the SMS hotfix on my HD2 which is running ROM 1.48etc and it's been displaying: Installing hotfix. Please wait. For about half an hour now. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Title: Re: SMS Hotfix frozen Post by: Lorin Bute on March 02, 2010, 01:42:49 AM Yes i did. I waited exactly 30 minutes and i reseted the device. After the restart i installed it again and it took 4 minutes.

After the restart i installed it again and it took 4 minutes. That's interesting... this is my third attempt. I think I'm gonna give up cos I don't seem to have any SMS problems, so I probably needn't bother. Thanks for your reply though. I'm gonna go look at maybe updating to ROM 1.66 if it's possible on my Vodafone machine. They can sit in the outbox for up to 2 days and then send. Madness. We have also had issues isntalling the SMS hotfix so not sure if thisis unique to Vodafone based HD2's or not. Be interesting to see if anyone else here as had this issue. Another issue I'm having is sending/receiving mms messages.. Ive tried all the settings i can find and still couldn't fix it. I took it into a voda shop and after an hour of them messing around with the settings and two people later it still wasn't fixed so we tried a new sim... Now Voda are saying that its HTC's issue.. not voda at all Anyone else having these problems? and if so any ideas on how to fix it... all suggestions welcome! Title: Re: SMS Hotfix frozen Post by: Agoattamer on March 04, 2010, 05:17:13 PM For some reason when I hear about the sms bug I hear about vodaphone. It does take some trial and error getting the phone settings correct. Are your phones branded? I would like to help you with settings but every carrier is different.
Make sure you have the bands set up correctly at settings/wireless controls/phone/band And to set up sms connections it is at settings/menu/all settings/connections/advannced Network and scroll on bottom to sms and select your appropriate connection for sms. Might take some trial an error to see what works best. You need to set your mms server here message tab/all messages/menu/settings/options/menu/mms server You also have to have the correct service center set up for your mms settings/wireless controls/phone/menu/network selection/GSM UMTS Services/Voice Mail and Text Messages/Get settings... and make sure the service center is correct. That just about covers it. But get that HTC sms fix installed first. Neither mine (orange) nor my partners (vodafone) HD2's are branded thankfully but she has had real annoying issues with sms and mms messages being let in the outbox and not being sent. Sometimes the delay is for days. bonkers! ;p The settings have been advised as correct by Vodafone tech support and they claim its not a known issue. We claimed otherwise. The SMS hotfix never works when we have tried to use it on her handset where it errors advising : "Incorrect Device This hotfix is not compatible with your device" error. :o Not sure where else we can find an update. im going to flush that rom and reinstall with the 1.66 WWE install and see how she goes for now. Fingers crossed this sorts it but Vodafone havent really be that helpfull in my opinion. I prefer them to just admit they haven't a clue so we dont waste time calling them. ::) has anyone had issues installing and using the hotfix at all? I added the downloaded hotfix file to the storage card and then when opening it, the "Incorrect Device This hotfix is not compatible with your device" occurrs. bah humbug! best wishes and les see what happens! Title: Re: SMS Hotfix frozen Post by: cccc on March 10, 2010, 04:53:58 AM I had similar issues, sent a few text messages over a few days to hear that nothing got through, then all 8 arrive a day or two later.
Called Vodafone, they said it might be to do with an old SIM card, but to take it out, start up the phone, shut it down, replace the SIM and check the phones settings. ( kind of like the reboot and shut up type of help ) Things at the moment are okay at the moment but I don't seem to be able to see an SMS receipt or to check if the messages have left my phone. Any suggestions ? Should I try Vodafone again ?? Cheers c Title: Re: SMS Hotfix frozen Post by: MrE on March 11, 2010, 04:53:18 AM Seems that because its an intermittent issue and taking Vodafones lack of info or worse ineptitude, there are known issues with SMS messages being queued in the out box of a HTC HD2 on their network.
I have tried my Orange connected HD2 and it works fine with no known issues so far since last week (hope Ive not jinxed myself!) but when trying my partners its still holding messages in the outbox, same as mms and sometimes email. We have repeatedly told by HTC that its not a phone fault, Vodafone claim its not their fault either. Personally i would imagine its something to do with Vodafones network or settings that is causing this or at least causing delivery issues by not responding to the HD2 correctly and thus is stores the messages to try again later. Will have to keep an eye on this and see if any other forum peeps are having this issue. Best of luck! ;) |
