Hi all,

I have a branded Telstra HTC HD2 with ROM version 1.49.841.1 (71528) WWE, which I am wanting to update to the latest 1.66 version however when I enter in my phones SN on the HTC website it tells me that the update does not apply to my particular phone. I believe this is due to the fact that it is Telstra branded. Does anyone know how I can the the latest updates for my phone, I don't mind unbranding it.

I found this topic that links the latest UK and EU firmwares but I'm just a little bit worried that it might not working on my phone as it is in AUS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We have discussed this in other threads. Are you using the T9193 in Australia or in North America?

I have installed the SEA WWE 1.66 rom using HSPL.

Before you update could you do me a favor?

go to settings/wireless controls/phone/band and can you tell me what all the settings are under Band Frequency?  They change with a different rom.

Under Band frequency

What is listed?  Not what you have checked.

1. Auto
2.
3.
4.

I want to know what the other 3 are. They changed with the newer rom.  I want to make some registry changes.

Thanks. I managed to find the settings elsewhere and make me a cab file to change back to this menu with my unbranded rom. All is working good for the moment.

great.

Going back to the ROM issue on the Telstra HTC HD2, I have read all the posts on this forum and other forum. It is all seems to be related to other HTC HD2. I have no experience with that first smartphone. Do you think it will be a problem upgrading the ROM? I really want to use the new version on Malina and enjoy my phone I don't care about the warranty - just hate the way telstra controls as all in Australia.

I downloaded the new PIM Back and going to take a backup. If the ROM upgrade is not successful is there away to install the old version back? if yes where can I get it from?

Thank you for taking the time to help

I understand you 100%. My telstra rom went out the window quickly. I never saw so much branding and the US carriers are good for that. lol. No reason to do a pim backup as the 1.49 signed telstra rom is available for download and can be put pack on if needed.  I have it and will find you the link if you want to download it.

First thing you will need is HSPL. That will allow you to flash any rom on your phone that you want. Be warned to only flash using your pc and activesync. You dont want to install any rom using the storage card, as that will possibly change your spl and you wont be able to flash back if needed. Good info and HSPL here.

After you have flashed the HSPL then you can flash your rom. Have you picked one out yet?  I strongly suggest if looking for wwe (english) you choose 1.66 from HTC.com from europe or southeast asia. Links to both on this forum.  I chose sea because it didnt come with co-pilot. Trying to save space. But I have settings on keyboard to use chinese characters. Europe version wont have that I believe. Cooked roms can be newer, fancy and quicker but most have bugs and instability. Especially if you are new this may not be something you wish for.

Once you have your hspl and rom it takes about 10 minutes. Actually alot easier than you think.
