I have just upgraded to 1.66 from 1.43 (I think). First attempt at running the upgrade failed because of a lost connection. It seemed to install a new bit of software on the PC. Coloured bands appeared on the screen of the HTC.

I started again and this time it went smoothly and all was well.

I then restored SPB backup from the storage card and it appeared to be OK but once it had reset itself it could not reload the "HTC Sense" front screen. I took the battery out and then retried. This time it worked fine.

Sweaty armpits for a while but now I'm  calm again!

When you upgrade do you lose all your settings, apps, contacts, etc and effectively start again?

I was waiting to get the phone working right first before upgrading so that Vodafone don't blame the upgrade for things not working but not sure if this is the right approach.
