Just thought I would let you know Lorin.  Using official 1.66 WWE rom and ClearTemp1.2.3

ClearTemp1.2.3 does find the google maps cache when using the pre-installed google maps. You will get a file sharing error if you try to select it as a custom folder.

I installed a newer version on the card (why, I dont know) but it's cache then gets saved to the card so no worry there. Would like to delete the one on the phone to get more space but I know apps like footprints connect to it.

Yes, i know. I had that happen to me too. On my tp2, although the location for google maps was the same, clear temp could find it. But on my hd2 it doesn't work. Anyway...i know about the footprints problem. Too bad its hard coded into the footprints app.

I installed the 4.0 version and its on the sd card. Its great, but too bad we can't delete the other one.

First of all let me thank you for the excellent videos and tutorials  Wink

Using ClearTemp I managed to assign the HTCAlbum Cache to the Custom Folder 2 in my memory card. So far it seems to be working just fine, it already cleared over 25mb of space.

In your video you mention that the solution you suggest can only be used in English ROMS, so I didn't even go any further (I use a Danish ROM). However as I started to check the settings and options on ClearTemp, I found the possibility to re-assign HTCAlbum Cache.

Or am I missing something???

The solution i mention replaces the HTC Album.exe which has the path to the cache hard coded. Which means that htc album reads that path that is hard coded (and cannot be changed) to get the cache. The new version of the exe has the path changed with a hex editor. But the path is in english: "\Storage Card\My Documents\HTCA\Cache\". So you see... if you had something different in stead of storage card or my documents... this won't work.

Ok, I get it!

So apparently I found a different way to change the HTCAlbum Cache via ClearTemp.

Are you using the default file explorer? If yes, that might be the problem. As far as i know, the regular file explorer does not allow the deletion of system files. Use something like resco file explorer.

Hey Lorin, I was doing some research on the HTC album cache.  The cab file that replaces the exe is specific to which rom you are using. I am assuming you pulled the cab file from the thread on xda which was created by 4tune. But he has one for 1.43, 48, 61, 66, and a patcher for custom roms.

So Im not sure if your cab file is one of these or was created by someone different and is universal. Since yours is HTC Album Cache Mod 2 .cab I am assuming it is only for 1.48. And it should not be used on other rom versions. Also with later versions the certs cab is not required.

Page on xda where your version was mentioned.

Hi Lorin,

I have been following this thread and even downloaded the "sdkcerts.cab and HTCAlbum CacheMod.cab" posted by you. But somehow I cannot find them to do the transfer of the cache to storage card. I deleted some wallpapers and pictures and saved some 8MB.

Can you assist and let me know where I can find these files. They are installed and I could see them listed in the add/delete program folder.

Thank you. I am a newbie, and this is an awesome site for us to learn new stuffs.

They are not applications to be run. The cache files will be moved automatically. I hope you installed the correct version of the cache mod for your particular firmware.

Hi Agoattamer,

Thank you for the clarification.
I checked and there is an item in my document in storage card.
Can I delete the cache in the Device? It is still there and has more than 10MB.

Thank you again.
