Okay, so this is NOT how to use your own audio files as a RINGTONE. It's how to set it for an SMS Notification. I try to do it the same way as you would do it for a ringtone, however, my custom files [even when placed in the /windows/rings dir] do not show up - which means I cannot use them. Anyone know what I could do? Using the Telstra Australia T9193 or whatever it's called model

I've used my own audio files as sms alert ringtone. My sms ringtone does not stop even after I've seen the sms. Is there anyway to stop it?

It would be probably easier to just get something for your PC like Audacity, then trim the files with that before putting them on your phone.

Slide to the settings menu, then go to sounds and display, then go to notifications, and "New message" will be there in the list.

There is also another way of getting any mp3 file to be listed as a ringtone or sms. Create My documents folder in root of storage and any mp3 file copied to that folder will be listed while choosing sms or ringtone.
I personally find this as better solution then copying files to windows folder because device has very limited storage memory.

I agree that this works for ringtones but not for notifications like sms.

It does work it seems if they are in the my documents folder only. Good catch. But they have to be in that folder. Cant add a ringtone folder in my documents.
